I recently found one of the first poems I wrote, whilst in therapy to my therapist as I reflected on my time with her. I feel a little vulnerable sharing it to be honest - so much water under the bridge since, and yet: I still aspire to be this certain and to have this fire in my belly. I am proud of this version and what she overcame to get here and so here she is:
I am changed but I am me.
I am transformed and I feel free.
I see myself now with kinder eyes.
Contentment my goal, not avoiding demise.
I hold myself in higher esteem,
Letting light in, I deserve to beam.
My soul is cleansed and excited.
My future now brighter and enlightened.
Endless possibilities abound for one who was lost, but now is found.
Who knew how hard it would be to go to the underworld, seeking my shadow to free?
But now she is found, a whole person I am.
An unstoppable force – I know I can.
So now I can see my purpose to be,
A beacon of hope, joy and knowledge, teaching others to be free.
So grateful for my lessons – they made me strong.
Diamonds are formed under pressure – the journey was long.
If it was easy – it wouldn’t have held meaning,
And with no meaning there would be no teaching.
My soul’s purpose was to be born as me.
I break my generational curse with glee.
I break my mould and I shed my skins.
I shed my past identities and now I am my own kin.
Reborn I stand in my power as a
Goddess, I shine in every hour.
